3 Roast sensation at Lead Station, Chorlton

3 Roast sensation at Lead Station, Chorlton

Everyone knows that there is no shortage of choice of venues to visit/discover on Sundays in the city, but we decided to visit an old favourite on Beech Road, Chorlton for Sunday Lunch.

Long known as one of the first bar/Restaurants on the Road, THE LEAD STATION is still going strong and yesterday we learned why.

To be greeted by the lovely Manager Anne Malone, was an initial bonus and she escorted us to our pre-booked table.

Drinks in the form of a lovely, dry Barbera Rose quickly followed.

We decided to share a starter and Cheshire Gammon & Manchego Croquettes were chosen and thoroughly enjoyed on both sides of the table.

I chose the Beer Battered Haddock With Chunky Chips, Peas and Tartar Sauce.

Often, this dish in other places can be over-facing, but here the fish fillet was slightly smaller and the better for it with plenty of taste, hence the empty plate when finished.

On the other hand, my friend bravely went for the Three Roast Sunday Lunch (pictured) complete with roast potatoes, glazed carrots, root vegetable mash, green beans, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and of course, two large Yorkshires.

Remarkably, he almost finished.

A short gap later we shared a Crème brûlée. A second bottle was also ordered.

The restaurant is an open space bathed in natural light (thankfully yesterday was sunny and Spring-like) and whilst predictably busy, we didn't feel crowded or overheard by our fellow diners.

As if all the above wasn't enough, we also enjoyed 20% off the food bill with our Canal St Card.

A short few paces next door to 97 Beech, finished off our entire experience with classic Negronis (again with card savings) and we summond a cab back into the city.

To where?

Well to Tariff and Dale (third Sister venue) of course.

A highly recommended trio for any Sunday Funday.
