Roby 1844 set for a sizzling summer

May 2024

Award-winning canalside bar and eatery Roby 1844 has officially reopened with a bang, with a brand-new menu, new opening hours and a host of events set to make it the place to be this summer.

Situated next to The Holiday Inn on Aytoun Street and featuring two floors of waterside al fresco seating and an outdoor bar, Roby 1844 is now open daily, with a delicious new menu of small plates, burgers, salads, and pizzas, alongside a selection of cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks.

With a jam-packed line-up planned throughout the summer, May alone at Roby 1844 will see live music from May 24th – 25th to celebrate the Manchester Jazz Festival, as well as floral celebrations for Manchester’s Flower Festival, where the popular outdoor terrace will be bloomin’ wild with stunning floral installations and special flower-themed additions to the menu, including a Cosmopolitan Flower Cocktail and Berry Cheesecake from May 24th – 27th. Guests can also expect a celebration of National BBQ Week on 1st June with an exclusive menu and BBQ party on the terrace.

That’s not all – Roby 1844 will be hosting an exciting eating challenge this May Bank Holiday in celebration of National Burger Day on May 27th, where foodies can indulge in Big Birds Big Sister; an exclusive edition of Roby’s signature dish, The Big Bird, featuring two coated chicken breasts, two waffles with maple syrup and one beef patty with cheese on a brioche bun with salad and bacon, accompanied by three onion rings and two portions Roby rub fries. Participants will be challenged to eat everything on the plate and finish a pint of Coke or Lemonade in 20 minutes to receive the whole dish for free and a winning t-shirt. Those who don’t manage to beat Big Birds Big Sister can enjoy the challenge for £30.

Steve Julian, General Manager at The Holiday Inn, said; “When the sun comes out, there’s no better place in Manchester to be than on the terrace at Roby 1844. Sat in the sunshine, alongside the water, with a cocktail in your hand, it’s a great place for a lazy weekend lunch, or a night out with friends.

“We’ve got a lot of events planned for this summer, and with longer opening hours and a new menu, there’s a lot to look forward to!”

Roby 1844 is now open to the public daily, serving beverages from 12pm – 8pm on Sun – Thurs and 12pm – 11pm on Fri – Sat. Food is also served on the terrace from Thurs – Sun.
