3 hour Ab Fab and French and Saunders

SWEETIE, DARLING, A THREE HOUR ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS AND FRENCH AND SAUNDERS MARATHON COMES TO MANCHESTER’S NORTHERN QUARTER THIS NOVEMBER!

Absolutely Fabulous has the to be a show with the biggest gay followings of the last thirty years… spawning many a copy cat drag queen, geeky catchphrase quoting and even a Pet Shop Boys song!  Fans of the sitcom and the comedy duo French and Saunders, gay or straight, are invited to join Manchester’s “big gay film club” to over-indulge in a three hour Ab Fab A Thon coming Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November.

Make A Scene have been selling out their “way too interactive” showings of camp and LGBT film and TV to audience of “friends of Dorothy and their friends” since they debuted last November with a ‘Sing-A-Long, Flower-Arrange-A-Long screening of Little Shop of Horrors’! Following the sold-out success of their Victoria Wood A Thon which presented three hours of Victoria Wood’s best sketches along with games, cakes, bingo, a full recreation of Acorn Antiques and even a visit from Maxine Peake, the Make A Scene team are back to celebrate more of the nation’s beloved female comedians.

The Ab Fab A Thon will feature top French and Saunders spoofs and sketches alongside the best episodes of Jennifer Saunders’ classic 90s comedy, all voted on by the audience pre-event. Expect three hours of cocktail making (stolly and bolly of course, darling), games, catwalks, audience interaction and a drunken commentary from your host Gary Williams and drag queen Grace Oni Smith who will be appearing in character as Joanna Lumley’s permanently sozzled fashionista Pasty Stone! Audience members will be rewarded for coming dressed as their favourite characters, with the best outfits winning prizes...dig out the Lulu costume!

The shows take place at multimedia Northern Quarter events venue Texture, home to film events such as IndieFlicks, Screened and Test Card and clubnights like Drunk At Vogue. The Saturday evening showing has already sold out, organisers have added a Friday date due to demand. Tickets on sale now from www.makeascenefilmclub.com or www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Manchester/Texture/

“Make A Scene just goes from strength to strength” Nicolas Hoskins owner of Texture says. “This is a film and TV event that goes the extra mile to get you involved - whether it’s dancing a long to Hairspray or eating custard creams to Victoria Wood sketches - and the technology at Texture just makes the screenings shine. We can’t wait to crack open the bolly for three hours of Ab Fab! If you love French and Saunders or if you’re just looking for something different to do in the city…grab a ticket, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind night out in Manchester!”
