First St Bar and Restaurant

First St Bar and Restaurant

Given that this venue is adjacent to this weekend’s Pride Live Festival at Homeground, we thought we should try what they have on offer for food and drink.

First St Bar and Restaurant is the hospitality concept at Melia Innside, immediately next door to Home Manchester and right on the doorstep to see ZARA LARSSON next weekend?

From walking in, we felt that the venue has a lovely calm, very welcoming atmosphere, with friendly bar staff.  We checked in for our booking and were escorted to a lovely terrace table for two.

A fabulous sun spot and as it happens and on the right side of First Street for sunshine.

Cocktails? Gin and Tonics? We went for wine and chose a lovely Viognier.

The Menu here has an array of choice; Small Plates, Main Meals and Sandwiches.

My Prawn Tempura comprised, big juicy prawns in a wonderful delicate batter with a lovely non sticky dipping sauce. My partner chose the Chorizo and Sweet Potato Croquettes accompanied by a Saffron Mayonnaise, which turned out to be a smoky, meaty, sweet explosion! She loved them.

Then onto the Mains. The Meatballs in a Chilli Tomato Sauce and Garlic Ciabatta were accompanied by a wonderfully rich Tomato Sauce with just the right amount of chilli hit and proper dippy for the bread.

I chose the Fillet Steak Sandwich served on lovely Sourdough Bread. The steak was cooked beautifully; medium rare, and topped with a fab, big slice of beefy tomato, balanced with the right amount of caramelised onions and a dab mustardy sauce. Just right for a protein carb top up for the day ahead. Great chips too. A second bottle of the Viognier complemented the entire experience.

The terrace here is a wonderful spot to sit. We waved and chatted to friends as they passed on their way to the village. I felt like we were on a lovely little holiday at home in Manchester. The staff were attentive throughout and the patio and hotel are both dog friendly, an added bonus for us. They even had a kitten stay for a week which came down with her owner for breakfast every day.

Great music too with the soundtrack gently changing into a chilled dance evening vibe. I could see me dancing on the terrace had I stayed longer. Fabulous.

We also noted the array of low alcohol choices which may be good for those who wish to ease themselves into their pride celebrations earlier in the day next weekend.

Pricing here is spot on despite it being in a hotel and the entire visit certainly didn't break the bank.
