Spectrum finished and now available
We featured the film Spectrum - an anthology of stories set around the village - on Canal Street Online back in 2018 when they were starting production.
After it's festival run last year, they had one more screening lined up for the end of March, but due to the current state of the world, that was postponed, and there are no more public screenings planned.
Therefore, the producers decided to release the film online, and are happy to announce that it's found its new home on Amazon Prime Video.
The film features Emmerdale's Bhasker Patel and Shameless's Alice Barry, and was made by a diverse team of local writers and directors.
Producer Kieron told us
"We filmed Spectrum across 2018, with incredible help from local cast, crew and businesses who helped us put the spirit of Manchester's gay village on film. It had a successful run at international film festivals in 2019, including screening at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and winning Best Short Film at the Gilbert Baker Film Festival in Kansas.
We had at least one more screening planned for 2020, but due to reasons you can guess, that didn't happen, so we've decided to release the film online, and are very happy that Spectrum's found its new home on Amazon Prime Video.
It's become something of a time capsule of when going out on Canal Street was possible, and we hope it can bring some of that feeling to people's living rooms - as long as they don't attempt anything depicted in the film until lockdown's over".
