Kate O’Donnell in her critically acclaimed show

The show which was co-produced by Trans Creative and Contact comes direct from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and shares the ups and downs of transitioning.

It’s 14 years since Kate O'Donnell transitioned and a lot has changed. In the follow up to hit show 'Big Girl's Blouse,' Kate shines a light on the ins and outs and ups and downs of transitioning. Through song, dance, hard-won wisdom and hilarity You’ve Changed looks at the so-called 'trans tipping point' and asks if the world is changing fast enough.

Challenging the idea that genitals equal gender, Kate literally bares all, getting her own out on the proverbial table...she’s changed, that’s clear, but what she really wants to know is, have you?

Trans Creative is led by Kate O’Donnell and supported by Arts Council England’s Elevate Fund. The company is a pioneering new transgender-led theatre company, which aims to increase the visibility and positive representation of transgender people and stories through excellent art, advocacy and education.

In the past three years trans referral for young people has increased threefold, showing the demand and need to creatively explore these stories and nurture a confident trans community, both within the arts and in our wider culture.

Matt Eames programmer and producer at The Lowry said; “We’re delighted to be working with Kate O’Donnell, Trans Creative, Contact and the LGBT Foundation to bring this show to our building and our audiences. You’ve Changed is a show that really makes you think and for us it has been a great exercise to highlight how we can change to be more accessible to the Trans community. It’s important to us to make everyone in our community feel like our building is a place for them.”

You’ve Changed is co-produced by Contact theatre in Manchester and Trans Creative. The show is part of Contact’s annual Flying Solo festival which celebrates radical solo performance. The 2017 festival sees artists shaking things up in the name of gender, politics, race and the body.
