Drag Yourself Out at home

Drag Yourself Out at home

Drag Yourself Out, a journey into drag for gay, bi and trans men over 50 in Greater Manchester is starting up again in a version you can enjoy from your own home!* New participants welcome!

On a series of fun and fabulous video calls in August you will come together with drag star Cheddar Gorgeous to continue to create a new drag persona which reflects Greater Manchester’s older gay, bisexual and trans communities. Local queens will pop-in as well, dialling in to share their skills around performance, costume, makeup and using social media.

Your group-created persona will help raise awareness about the opportunities and challenges for gay, bi and trans men, as they age. No previous experience is required and no dressing up is required.

Please (once-again) come prepared to step into the world of drag!

*Initial sessions for this project were held at city-centre venues earlier in 2020, but activity was put on hold due to the pandemic. We will continue to assess the possibility of safely coming together complete group work or one-on-one work with Cheddar face-to-face.

Planned dates:

Mondays throughout August at 11am-12pm. Please email Lawrence.roberts@lgbt.foundation to book your place or find out more.

Accessibility: We will be using the Zoom video conferencing application for these sessions. If you need assistance in setting up or connecting to video calls please make us aware. If you are unable to make video calls or require any additional equipment to be able to do so please make us aware in advance of the session.

Drag Yourself Out is a collaboration between Ambition for Ageing’s Community Navigators Programme for Men Over 65, led by Southway Housing Trust and Pride in Ageing at LGBT Foundation, and developed from discussions with a group of older men from gay, bisexual and trans communities who are living in Greater Manchester.
