Stiff Little Fingers at Manchester Academy
Last evening we were off to the largest of the Academy venues for the long awaited 2 year delayed tour of Stiff Little Fingers, the 70’s punk band still going strong with all original members. Supported by TV Smith, now solo after fronting The Adverts and The Professionals, originally formed after the Sex Pistols split.
The place was already very busy at 7.30, with lots of excitement and anticipation rippling through the venue.
TV Smith had a short set but never the less, packed plenty in, we were treated to a couple of well known older songs which the crowd clearly loved and his trademark defiant lyrics in other songs about poverty, oppression and living through the pandemic. Full of energy and spark the crowd loved it, great to see him back.
The Professionals were up next. We hadn’t seen them before and weren’t familiar with their music but we really enjoyed the set, great playing, proper rock energy and again, the crowd loved them.
Stiff Little Fingers always give a fantastic performance with lots of well known tunes from the early days all of which got the crowd roaring along to every word.
We loved every minute. The place was completely packed out and there was a wonderful buzz and energy about the whole evening. Can’t wait for them to tour again!
Many thanks to Box Office staff and all the lovely smiley bar staff at the venue, which all helped to create a super atmosphere on the night.
