Fly with Pam Ann
Myself and Paul jetski got last minute tickets to see Pam Ann at the Lowry on Monday night.
Having seen her several times already, we were ready for the usual mix of live stand up and pre-recorded video, which has caused more than a little crticism latterly.
Pam,aka Caroline Reid, has certainly taken this on board (see what we did there) and we were delighted to infinitely more live material than has been the case previously.
Direct and often shocking(references to the Malaysian mystery for instance),Pam quickly settled into her comfort zone, with an adouring audience, who in many cases, had enjoyed her asurbic wit and legendary observational humour,on many occasions before.
Personally,i have never seen so many gays out on a Monday since the days of City lights ( yes we are that old )and a good 90% of them were with her all the way.
This show is not for the easily offended. I have only heard one other person, Peggy Wessex, use the 'c' quite word as much and to great effect.
If you can get past the potentially offensive material, then an evening with Pam Ann and her brand new show 'FLY' will thoroughly entertain you and as the Gays stood in ovation at the end,we all spilled into the night giddy with delight.
This was great fun and fab to see a packed house on a Monday night in March.Come back soon Pam, we do love you in Manchester, well Salford actually..
