Chop and Plant at The Marriott

Chop and Plant at The Marriott

The name of restaurant at the heart of the Marriott Victoria & Albert is a clue to the ethos of the menu. A mix of chop house dishes to suit a hearty appetite, alongside a full vegan menu, in a welcoming setting. There’s a focus on local produce, and sustainability, that alongside the attentive and knowledgeable service, ensures that you make the most of your evening.

The venue itself is full of warm wood, and soft tones, with a splash of colour at the bar, where the drinks menu follows the ethos of the food. Cocktails featuring local spirits from Manchester Gin, Didsbury Gin and Salford Rum, wines and local beers.

During our most recent visit, we dove into the cocktail menu. Gin cocktails were elegant with lots of botanical and floral flavours. Rum cocktails, on the other hand, were rather sweet and spicy, with a rich, earthy flavour.

From the food menu, we selected tempura vegetables and Padron peppers, with a beetroot risotto, and fish and chips for main. The tempura vegetables were light and crispy, with a well-seasoned batter. The peppers were fresh, and subtly spicy, and the beetroot risotto was creamy and earthy - with texture and sweetness provided by candied walnuts. The chips were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the side, served alongside a fish coated in a crunchy batter, but that was soft and flaky on the inside. It’s a classic dish done well. Overall, it was a delicious meal that I highly recommend!

The Marriott Victoria and Albert Manchester is a venue is ideal for celebrating a special occasion or spending a night out with friends and family, and of course an ideal base from which to explore the city. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new dining experience.
