The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation are holding their conference in Manchester next week from March 5th until the 7th.
The Ramada is the host hotel and several events are planned including a special 'ITS A GAY KNOCKOUT' on Canal St next Friday evening.
Many of our resident sprots groups are taking part,including the Village football and Rugby teams.
The fun begins outside Taurus from 8pm on Friday 5th March.

LGBT Labour North West are celebrating Valentines day this year with a specially comminnsioned card celebrating the acheivements we've seen since 1997 not just in legal rights but social attitudes.
The cards will be given out on Canal Street over Valentines weekend and we'll also be asking people to sign a giant postcard and let us know what more they'd like to see Labour deliver for equality.

Later this year, Manchester will see the launch of the country’s first full time FM radio station for lesbian, gay bisexual and trans people. It’s called Gaydio – that shouldn’t need much explanation. Gaydio has actually been around for a while, having done a series of month long test broadcasts since 2006.

Rapid HIV testing clinic for gay and bisexual men
In partnership with the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health, the LGF also host a rapid HIV testing clinic.
With 1 in 3 gay men being unaware that they are living with HIV, increased testing is a priority for the LGF.

WHERE WE LIVE CONVERSATIONS WITH BLACK LESBIANS & GAYS IN THE NORTH WEST
The North West’s black LGB community is finally being put on the map after recently winning several awards in the Pink Paper Readers Awards 2009, the country’s biggest lesbian, gay and bisexual awards.
The award for best black/minority ethnic group or organisation in Britain went to Black North West which meets at the Lesbian and Gay Foundation. Derek Urgohide is one of the three volunteers who co-ordinate the group. “It came as a surprise to me as I did not even know we were nominated!” he says.

BBC Radio 2 to examine How Aids Changed America Made in Manchester Productions’ has been commissioned to make a special documentary to mark the 20th anniversary of the first World Aids Day for Britain’s most listened to radio station. How Aids Changed America will be presented by US actor Paul Michael Glaser and will air on BBC Radio 2 at 10.30pm on December 2nd. Mr Glaser, who played Starsky in the long running US cop series Starsky and Hutch) will look back at nearly three decades of pain, prejudice and progress in the American peoples' struggle with HIV/Aids.

ARE MOST CROSS DRESSERS STRAIGHT?
How would most women feel if their husband or boyfriend admitted to being a secret cross dresser?
That the question that’s been posed on the only regular LGBT current affairs programme on the BBC (Citizen Manchester LGBT).
The programme’s been sampling the views of women on the streets of Manchester before taking part in a discussion with Jenny Ann Bishop from the Manchester Trans Discussion Group and BBC Radio Manchester ‘Gay Hour’ presenters Ashley Byrne and Andrew Edwards.

An academic in America who has studied the sex and love lives of 100 women for the past 12 years has been blowing away some myths about bisexuality.
Lisa Diamond from Utah University has found that far from being poor at monogamy, it’s been the bisexual women in her study who have proved to be the MOST monogamous.

In an exclusive interview given to the BBC’s only regular gay current affairs programme, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has apologised to gay people all around the world for the way they have been treated by the church. The Archbishop recently criticised the church for being ‘obsessed’ with homosexuality but speaking from his home in Capetown he goes even further and says he’s ‘sorry’.
