Years ahead
BBC Sound of 2015 Poll winners, Years & Years, have just released their highly anticipated debut album 'Communion' through Polydor Records.
Following a UK #1 single with 'King' and sold-out tours in March and May, including two dates at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire, the band have also announced they will head out on another run of dates this autumn.
With lead singer Olly Alexander, becoming something of a Gay poster boy, the band continues to stamp its music and performance style internationally with a series of sell out concerts.
The 3 members have very different backgrounds and came together in 2010 after hearing Olly's voice singing in the shower at a friends house and quickly realised they shared the same taste in music.
5 years later and following several early releases on indie labels, Polydor came knocking and the rest we know.
'We always wanted to make music that lots of people could hear and that would sit in what we call pop music' says Olly.
Alexander's fame became clear when he and his partner Neil Amin-Smith from Clean Bandit, were pictured with the VOTE YES message on their hands, in Ireland's recent vote on Gay Marriage.27,000 likes later, they all realised the effects of their new found fame.
So following on from all these plaudits, the band are about to tour to coincide with the release of their first Album Communion and as Olly says 'if the album proves anything its that we are writing intelligent lyrics, with unity and coherence. We wanted a body of work that has its own world'.
You can check out their awesome new single 'Shine' HERE, which is out on the 5th July.
The band will play the Albert Hall in Manchester on the 18th October.
