What a huge issue Gender Dysphoria is

What a huge issue Gender Dysphoria is

WoMan - A Transsexual Perspective - No.8

In the corner of my lounge is a spider, he is very busy right now weaving his web.  Whether hungry or not he will weave and weave. If the web is broken he weaves some more. &Let’s face it; his life depends on the web being tight, secure and free of gaps. If he does a good job he might get his dinner tonight. If not I will likely forget about him and find a poor dead arachnid in 3 months-time when I dust the ceiling corners.

My life has been just like the spider weaving his web. When I secretly dressed, I had to consider every potential loophole and every crack in my story.  More recently, I had to lie about my gender issues and the more lies I told the greater the web became. Of course with size comes a critical mass and at some point the bonds will break.  I find myself like the spider again rebuilding my new web. But this time it is stronger, tighter and far more transparent.  Now my prize is not my opportunity to dress but womanhood.  A prize of life that matters to me as much as the meal flying toward the spider’s silk plate of death.

I am disappointed with so many of the actions I made and decisions I took in my past. I was dis-respectful and behaved very unfairly toward my wife. I hurt many people and cause conflict where calm ensued. But life has a way of sorting itself out if you are prepared to go for it. So many of my conversations with my trans-siblings follow similar patterns - obviously not all of them.

My life now is about making people happy, transparency and doing ‘the right thing’. Can it be that the inner person in me had to stay dormant until my beautiful children were born?  Maybe one of them will be Prime Minister and the other will become a major TV star. Maybe they will just have children and add to the human race.  But Andrew did one good thing, have children who are beautiful. So although the web I built was a staggering maze of lies, I was able to do some good as well.

I often think about all dysphoria sufferers and wonder how many are repairing their webs or creating one from scratch. The pressure is immense and the worry of being caught out is quite mind-numbing. As with the spider and his last meal, you are only one broken strand away from being caught out. Why are we prepared to put ourselves in such clear and present danger of losing everything? I think this just goes to show what a huge issue gender dysphoria is and why it should be a major Government focus.

My views are my own and you may have a different perspective. I welcome any comments

It will be lovely to see you on my social media
