Village goes Purple
The Village will go PURPLE for the Launch on Friday 28th June, with many bars becoming purple and providing their own individual entertainment that makes the village the inclusive and welcoming space that it is today.
Saturday afternoon sees the first ever AKT It's A Knock Out competition take place - where teams of ten will battle it out in a number of activities to be crowned overall champions. Teams can enter for £750, which is only £75 per team member to fundraise!
The Sunday afternoon sees the AKT Drag Race take place - this is a fun event where the community will come out in drag (purple themed of course) and take part in the race with the winner grabbing some fantastic prizes. Individuals can enter for only £5.
Both events take place in the car park on Richmond Street in the heart of the gay village, where live entertainment and outdoor bar area open all weekend, with all proceeds going to the worthy Albert Kennedy Trust.
So whether you want to take part or come on down and enjoy the outdoors, cheer on the teams on the Saturday and the runners on the Sunday, there will be something for everyone. You can party on in to the night with all the amazing entertainment being put on by the village venues during this truly community fundraising event.
The Albert Kennedy Trust supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans homeless young people in crisis. Every day we deal with the effects homelessness can have on young people's lives. We have offices in London, Manchester and Newcastle.
