VBA design search
The Village Business Association (VBA) is calling out to budding designers and the creative public, to develop designs and ideas for an architectural concept to help bring more Pride to Manchester’s Gay Village.
In a style similar to Montreal’s Village and Chicago’s ‘Boy’s Towns’, the VBA hope to find a design entry amongst the cultural diversity and wealth of talent in Manchester, to stamp an identity to our Gay Village that can be recognised by all.
The design
Should be simple in its approach
Made from durable material that is hard to vandalise
Should be straight-forward to build and install
Be sensitive to the surrounding area and mesh well with the area’s existing public realm and environmental elements
Capture the spirit of Manchester’s Gay Village
Be compliant with local planning regulations
Designs and concepts (JPEG/PDF format) along with a completed version of the application form (http://scr.bi/gdrYOi) should be submitted via email to VBA secretary Shay McGinty (shay.mcginty@visitmanchester.com) no later than Thursday 9 March 2011.
The winner will be selected by a panel of representatives from the LGBT community and will get the chance to work alongside the VBA in bringing their design to life!
