Two minute Queers

TITLE: VADA Presents 30 Two Minutes Plays in One Evening!

VADA LGBTQ Community Theatre Company, MANCHESTER—21st-23rd August, 2012:

The UK’spioneering LGBTQ theatre company presents a collection of 30 original theatrical sketches in one
ground-breaking show: ‘Two Minute Queers’. A showcase of brazen characters including: a
drunken mystic, a devil godfather, an expert in antiquated dildos and the Visual Realisation
Manager of ‘Fagazine’.
The show is an ambitious portrayal of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
and questioning life, showcasing new and emerging talent from across the North West. Amongst
the outrageous comedies are insightful dramas, outlandish experimental theatre and biting political
satire. ‘Two Minute Queers’ is being performed at Polari, Canal Street on 21st August 2012 and at
the Castle Hotel, Oldham Street on 22nd and 23rd August, 2012.
The show starts at 7.30pm, with
tickets available on the door. The show is part funded by Manchester Pride Fringe Trust.
As a community theatre group, VADA offers anyone who identifies as LGBTQ the opportunity to
create original drama. Maggie, who is performing in ‘Two Minute Queers’ says:
“VADA gave me the opportunity to fulfil a childhood dream, to go on the stage and
entertain people. It's a very scary thing to do but the safety and support of the group
makes it possible.”

VADA offers fantastic opportunities for members of the LGBTQ community to discover and develop
their theatrical skills. Acting, performers, writers, directors, artists and crew members are all
welcome, regardless of experience. Damian, a new member of VADA, says:
“As a new member of VADA, I was quickly made to feel welcome and immediately
involved. There's a great diversity of people and a real sense of team unity, as
well as a range of talented writers and performers. It's a fun environment, where you
can be yourself.... and many other characters too!”
Anyone interested in getting involved with VADA, in anyway, can visit their website or join their
Facebook group. A warm welcome is guaranteed. VADA was established in 1996 and produces
two shows a year. As a non-profit LGBTQ community theatre company LGBTQ VADA is unique in
the UK.
