JOSIE PICKERING

Josie Pickering passed away peacefully at home on the 10th January 2015. Josie was a huge part of Manchester's gay village since first discovering the Union pub in the 1960s. She appeared in many television programmes including the Channel 4 series, 'It's not unusual'. Her life story also inspired Hope Theatre Company's play 'Yesterday when I was young' which was performed at The Lowry before touring to Edinburgh, Dublin and London. Her autobiography was released in December 2014 (also titled 'Yesterday when I was young') and she enjoyed a book launch at Taurus Bar, Canal Street, surrounded by her friends and family.
