CASTING NEWS

Due to her filming schedule on the BBC soap 'Doctors', Danielle Henry has had to pull out of the upcoming performances of The Rainbow Connection for The Library Theatre's Re:Play Festival. Erin Shanagher will now play the part of Shelly. Erin has worked with director Adam Zane for many years, in the hit one-woman-show 'Yesterday, when I was Young' and the UK premiere of 'The Laramie Project Epilogue'. Erin has jumped in at the last minute and will be fitting rehearsals in whilst filming the new series of ITV's 'Scott and Bailey'. Director Adam Zane says, "I’m delighted Erin could join the cast. She brings something completely new to the show and has great chemistry with Anthony Crank - it's very exciting!" Erin and Antony met previously while they were both filming 'Shameless'. Erin says, “It’s a great script and I’m looking forward to returning to the Lowry”. Erin will soon be seen in Sky Atlantic’s new drama ‘Hit and Miss’, due out in February and starring Chloe Sevigny.

THE PLAY

He’s Brie, she’s Dairylea. She likes Britney, he loves Judy. She’s a mess; he’s got OCD.

This heart-warming comedy stars Anthony Crank (T4/Shameless) as Joe, the smart talking, acerbic gay guy who’s never lost for a word, but can’t talk about the secret he’s hiding, and Erin Shanagher (Scott and Bailey/The Street) as Shelly-sassy,brassy and scatty but beneath the two inch slap and Primarni, lie deeper insecurities…

This modern fairy tale follows two strangers, as they find that the search for a happy ending can be messy and full of surprises. After too many Lambrinis and a Muppet Movie, Joe and Shelly discover that the line between love and friendship is a fine one and when secrets and lies are thrown into the mix, these threaten to tear their friendship apart forever.

The Rainbow Connection is the tale of an unlikely friendship and the search for a little bit of magic.
