Tea 42 to launch in the Village

Tea 42, the Manchester-based restaurant group, today announced the creation of up to 50 new jobs as part of expansion plans.

The company was established in 2013 with an investment of £325,000 into the initial pilot site, which is located on the High Street in the Northern Quarter. Currently employing 30 members of staff, Tea 42 offers a modern tea room menu with innovative brunch, dinner and grazing dishes – all of which are available in gluten-free form. Throughout its first year, the restaurant became popular amongst both foodies and diners with intolerances for its extensive FreeFrom menu. Tea 42 even secured first place at the prestigious FreeFrom Eating Out Awards towards the end of 2014 and more recently was host to its first marriage proposal.

Following its success, founders Will Hannah and Jason Abbott have been exploring sites throughout the North West to expand the portfolio. The acquisition of the village-based venue will create new posts across a mix of specialised talents. The 50 new recruits will be hired within the next two months, with the site set to open to the public shortly before Easter weekend.

Self-funded with an investment of £500,000, the new site will trade seven days a week and provide 250 covers over its two floors. Whilst the new venue will be a representation of the existing business model, the offering will be lengthened and the size of the property allows for more covers.

The extended team will play a key role in developing Tea 42’s offering further as it looks to expand across the country in a 20-site rollout programme.

About Tea 42 Restaurants:

Established in 2013, Tea 42 offers fresh alternative, away from the kitsch of most tea rooms and its own take on Afternoon Tea, along with deliciously indulgent dishes in a stylishly chic setting. Having worked hard to deliver not only fine dining dishes for gluten-intolerant diners, but options for those with non-dairy requirements, Tea 42 has become renowned for providing an environment where customers can feel at ease – whatever their food preferences.
