Taurus celebrates its 10th year...

Gay Village favourite TAURUS celebrates its landmark 10th Birthday on June 16th. Often affectionately known as 'the community centre',Taurus has firmly rooted itself,as one of the venues were diversity,in all its forms,is shared by LGBT individuals and their friends.

Founded in June 2001,by Mike Pollard,aka 'Polly',Tom Sharkey and Iain Scott,the business established itself,with its simple,no nonesense,approach to food and drink.Together with chef Peter Smith,they still provide the same high levels of casual drinking and dining.

These days,the venue is operated by management team Nosheel Rahi and Ric Battarbee,with their excellent team,who in some cases have been part of the business for upto 10 years.Indeed the levels of service are unrivalled across the city and remain one of the key attributes of the Bar/Restaurant.

Taurus has further become the 'home' to dozens of LGBT groups,both sporting and social,aswell as a recognised haven for artists and fringe performers. It has also won just about every award going across the city, including a plethora of recycling/enviromental awards and the coveted City Life 'Bar of the Year'.

Polly says"....And of the future? Well,the need for safe,qualitative,LGBT(together with friends)spaces has never been greater,and the Taurus team,remain determined to provide such a venue...

Oh and what of fun?Anyone will tell you that you will always hear more laughter on both sides of the bar,than almost anywhere else..Here's to the next 10..
