SALLY CARR TO RECEIVE MBE FOR HER WORK WITH LGBT
The young people, staff and volunteers of LGBT Youth North West are delighted to congratulate their, youth worker, colleague, friend and role model Sally Carr on being awarded an MBE for services to the LGBT Community.
Sally Carr has made a huge contribution to the lives of thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) young people in the North West of England and continues to do so every day in her dedication to young people’s rights and voices in her exemplary youth work career.
Sally has worked at Lesbian and Gay Youth Manchester (LGYM) for 25 years working tirelessly to ensure LGBT young people are healthy, safe and fulfil their potential whilst learning to love themselves and enjoy life.
Background
In 1996 she set up and supported the Peer Support Project, a charity for intensive support of LGBT young people. In 2002 she set up and supported The Women’s Health Project empowering young lesbian and bisexual women through anti sexist youth work practice, before establishing the infrastructural support organisation LGBT Youth North West at which she is Operations Director.
Sally is an active advocate for justice and equality, her positivity and passion is contagious and we are proud to call her our own. Congratulations Sally Carr.
