Reaction to President Vladimir Putin banning the promotion of "non-traditional values" to children and additionally the states refusal to allow gay pride events and harassment of gay activists.

Many of Manchesters popular gay venues have joined the protests by removing Russian Vodka from their shelves.

Many spirits and alco-pops use the term 'Russian' in their branding however, much of this is not actually distilled in Russia.

Stoli, one of the more high profile vodka's is in fact distilled in Lativa and it's owner who is known for anti Putin stance and a supporter of LGBT rights.
