YEE-HA LINE DANCING GETS A MAKEOVER IN MANCHESTER

Ask most people and they think Line Dancing is all checked shirts, cowboy hats and obsessed dancers dancing to Dolly Parton and the like.

Well not with the Manchester Prairie Dogs reports William McKay (the new Chair of the Manchester based Line Dancing Club). There is more chance of calling into the Thompson Arms on Chorlton Street on a Tuesday evening and hear the likes of Lady GaGa, Alexandra Burke and Adele.

The Prairie Dogs were formed in 1993 and used to dance in Chains Club which is now Legends. The club has now grown to all inclusive group who welcome everyone regardless of Sexual Orientation, Gender, Age, Race or Disability. The new committee are committed in making the club and safe and fun space for everyone who is keen to socialise and learn a new skill.

The club night is every Tuesday from 7.30pm till 10pm and its FREE for your first visit,£4 for non members and £3 for members. Concessions are also available.

We also offer a full social calendar which includes Quiz Nights, Trips to the theatre, Christmas Parties and organised weekends to Blackpool so its an ideal place to come if your new to manchester or just want to broaden your collection of friends.

We also dance on Canal Street (see website for details). The first outside event is Sunday April 1st 2012 from 2pm until 4.30pm approx. Come along have a chat and have a go in our easy teach dance.

The highlight of the year is our entry in the Manchester Pride Parade with many locals looking forward to see our entry year after year. We are looking forward to the 2012 parade but are keeping our entry top secret.

On June 10th we are appearing in our 3rd Manchester Day Parade which is getting bigger every year. In the first year we danced behind a 9 foot Wicked Witch of the West, last year it was a 15 foot Native American Indian and this year we are paying homage to the trolley dolly and hope to have a 15 foot plus Pam Anne!!! We look forward to seeing you on Sunday June 10th.
