Popbar opens
The legendary POPTASTIC finally gets its own venue on Canal Street
After entertaining Manchester’s Gay Scene for almost 18 years, Poptastic are proud to announce a NEW venue on Canal Street - BAR POP
Doors opened on Wednesday 25th September with a glittering launch party hosted by Miss Penny Crayon and veteran village personality John Hamilton.
John explains his decision to add a stand-alone venue to compliment the hugely successful club night.
"Having lived here for over 25 years, I feel the soul has gradually been taken out of the Village. Times have changed, and sadly a lot of the bars have not adapted to a change in attitudes and society - We need to stand up and reclaim the Gay Village - Bar Pop aims to put the community back into Canal Street, creating a venue where all can feel comfortable and safe"
It's also the first dedicated bar for the Lesbian and Gay students. Times are tough, so we provide an affordable night out with great entertainment.
We offer membership cards which will give discounted entry at Poptastic, as well as offering the chance to collect points which can be used to get things from drinks to tickets for theatre shows and pop concerts.
John explains the difference between Bar Pop and other venues on Canal Street.
"What we bring with us is the fun and friendly atmosphere of Poptastic, but 7 nights a week. Our DJs from the Poptastic family will be joining forces with favourites from Canal Street, all with affordable prices thrown in to boot"
We also have the Bar Pop VIP Lounge on the first floor – with comfy leather sofas, and classy decor - this is going to be THE place to meet with your friends for a drink. It is also available for private hire.
