Glamorous Pink Dog Show 2013 Sets Tails Wagging

Manchester Dogs Home’s Pink Dog Show is already setting tails and tongues wagging, with this summer’s event promising a star-studded Oscars theme.

The annual show takes place during the Manchester Pride festival on 18th August and, now in its sixth year, is thought to be the world’s largest ‘pink’ dog event of its kind.

Drag queen Viva la Diva will lead the Pink Oscars at Sackville Gardens in Manchester, where pet owners can enter their pooches into classes including Best Red Carpet Walk, Best Musical Score and Best Costume.

This year also marks the launch of Cruffs for Puffs on 30th June, with local businesses and charities on hand throughout the afternoon to offer informal education and advice on caring for dogs responsibly.

Lisa Graham, home manager at Manchester Dogs Home, says: "The LGBT communities offer such wonderful support to our charity, so the Pink Dog Show is our chance to get to know them better and have a proper celebration."

New York, New York is the main sponsor, with the Bloom Street bar supporting the show for the third year running, while stalls will also be selling gifts, toys and treats for both canines and their companions.

The event takes place from noon on Sunday 18th August in Sackville Gardens, Manchester, with registration at 11am.
