Performance Plaza

Performance Plaza

Some 17 months after first being offered the building now situated at 1 Ashton Rd West, Failsworth, Performance Plaza has today officially signed the lease.

We have taken on this long empty and dilapidated building with the intentions of creating The Arts Hub.  A brand new community hub serving the people of Oldham, Failsworth, and beyond.  Offering workshops in acting for theatre and film, music creation and recording, guitar playing, arts and crafts and so much more.  With plans to create a local community choir, a small internet radio station and even a community herb garden, there is going to be something for everyone at The Arts Hub.

Paul Burgess, Creator and CEO of Performance Plaza said:  "This is an opportunity we've waited for since our founding in 2005.  Not having to rely on renting space to hold our workshops will make a massive difference to us and will give us the much anticipated chance to really expand on what we offer.  It's going to be an amazing little place and we can't wait to get in there.  We'll also be sharing the space with Pink Triangle Theatre, who will help us to pay the bills, and will be able to offer some LGBT workshops and social sessions".

Jason Bromley, Director of Performance Plaza and Official Torch Bearer for the 2012 Olympics said:  "There is a lot of work to do before we're up and running, and thankfully we already have some much needed funding in place from Voluntary Action Oldham, The Failsworth District Partnership and  Greater Manchester Police.  What we need is volunteers.  Skilled people who can help us with cladding, flat roofing, internal wall removal, damp proofing, double glazing, and of course the basics like plastering and painting.  We already have the very kind offer of emergency lighting and fire alarms from Robert Whetham Associates, M&E Consulting."

"We want this to be a welcoming place for everyone, and a 'all hands on deck' approach is the only way we're going to get it done" added Paul. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvkBOfmYIkw
