Canal Street Online Manchester

Our latest trip into the past

Our latest trip into the past

Here is another memory trip with this original image of Canal St showing the buildings that currently house Kiki, Velvet and Bandit Mugger and Thief.

The Valrich sign shows where S. CHADWICK TEXTILES LIMITED were housed and NAIRN AND CO were Carpet manufacturers.

The presence of parking meters and a Vauxhall Zephyr on the street are also echoes to a very different era for one of Manchester's most famous streets.

If you have any memories related to this time please let us know at CANALSTMANCHESTER@GMAIL.COM

Many thanks to Paul Scofield for his help with this article.
