Manchester memorial makes top 13
Alan Turing memorial, Manchester, UK has proudly made the list of the top 'Gay monuments' in the world.
Alan Turing, known as the father of computer science, is remembered with this peaceful statue of him sitting on a park bench. A plaque explains that he was not only a great mathematician and scientist but also a 'victim of prejudice'.
Turing holds a half-eaten apple because it is thought that he killed himself by taking a bite out of a cyanide-laden apple after started taking female hormones as an alternative to being sent to prison.
