Winter Warming FUNdraiser

LGBT Youth North West have had a great 2013 and are holding a winter FUNdraiser to celebrate their achievements and to fundraise for a successful 2014. They have trained nearly 5,000 people in schools, with companies, supported 27 regional groups and hundreds of young people each week.

Sally Carr, MBE, organised a trans residential that 24 young people attended. One said that it was “life changing”. LGBT Youth North West have also set up a Wythenshawe and Stockport youth group that both have regular attendees looking for support and belonging in their area. One attendee said “I felt suicidal before I came here, now I have come out I feel happy and free to be me”.

Amelia Lee, Strategic Director said “Christmas can be a difficult time for young LGBT people and we want to be there for as many people as we possibly can”. There will be a number of wonderful volunteers who will be dishing out a delicious Christmas dinner at their Christmas event on the 14th.

There will be a carol service at noon, craft fair from 1pm followed by a delicious dinner made with home-grown ingredients from their allotment and community café set up earlier this year.

All of LGBT Youth North West services are free for young people who attend to make support and space as accessible as possible, and they intend to keep it that way but rely on donations to keep their doors open - so head down and part with a few pounds!

LGBT Winter Warmer Saturday 14th December 12-5pm LGBT Centre, Sidney Street off Oxford Rd. winterfundraiser.eventbrite.co.uk
