How can Pride Help you

HOW CAN MANCHESTER PRIDE HELP YOU? Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups and projects across Greater Manchester have been invited to apply for grants of up to £10,000 from Manchester Pride's community grant initiatives.

This year there are three different grant funds available for application. These are: Fast-Track Support Grants, Development Grants and Fringe Events Grants.

The Fast-Track Support Grants are used to support LGBT groups and organisations in delivering the work they do. The average grant is £500 and the maximum amount available is £1,000. Applications are now open. Development Grants allow LGBT charities and not-for-profit organisations to further develop services for the LGBT community.

This includes supporting people directly affected by HIV and supporting projects that improve the wellbeing of the LGBT community in Greater Manchester. The average grant is £5,000 and the maximum amount available is £10,000. Applications are now open. Fringe Events Grants are available for those wishing to stage events during the Manchester Pride Fringe Festival.

Events may include debate or activities relating to health, theatre, comedy or music. The maximum grant available is £500. Applications are welcome from January 2011 onwards. Each application will be reviewed by a panel of community partners, trustees, patrons and independent individuals. They will be looking for well-planned projects and events for all of the grants schemes.

Jackie Crozier, festival director of Manchester Pride, said: “We’re really proud that our community grant initiatives allow grassroots-level groups and projects to benefit from the monies raised at Manchester Pride 2010. It's fantastic to know that it will make a significant difference in the LGBT community.”

For more information on how to apply for any of these grants, visit www.manchesterpride.com/community Alternatively contact Darren Adams, deputy festival director of Manchester Pride darren.adams@manchesterpride.com

Manchester Pride will find out next month (10 November) if they have been declared as the world's best Pride event by the international TripOut Gay Travel Awards.
