ANOTHER GREAT YEAR FOR MANCHESTER CARS!

City Centre private hire taxi operator Manchester Cars is bucking the trend despite the challenging economic conditions, expanding its operational base in Manchester’s Gay Village, introducing App technology, employing more staff and securing new contracts.

The latest 1 year contract from Manchester City Council started on April the 1st and means the company has in the last 12 months, secured work from First Group (First Rail Support), the BBC at Media City and the AQA Examinations Board to name just a few.

The company launched a new App for IOS and Android phones in January and this is now accounting for over 10% of the total bookings made every week. The app allows customers to book a vehicle anytime, remembers their most popular journeys and cancels ones they no longer need. Further enhancements are planned for the app, allowing passengers to trace their vehicle and pay their fare too.

A full refurbishment and expansion of the company offices on Bloom Street is underway, with new Management office space, a new rest facility for drivers and better signage being installed. Staffing numbers have also increased in line with the expansion, with additional Admin staff and Account Managers being recruited.
Les Gunn, Marketing Manager said:

‘Since 2007, Manchester Cars has provided over 2.5 million journeys around the city and we are committed to providing an excellent service to our passengers.

The last year has seen great change, an enhanced customer service focus, new business and we have looked closely at the need to invest, despite the fact that leisure passengers in general are making fewer local journeys owing to the current financial squeeze. So the focus on getting business from other areas has really been important to us.

We’re on course to have a record year and plan on retaining our strategy of investing in local services, local people, sporting teams and giving back to local charities.’
