Goldfrapp date at Lowry

Singer and songwriter, Alison Goldfrapp announces her return to the North West after unveiling Salford exhibition of her artistic influences and wowing fans with stunning performances at the Manchester International Festival.

Alison Goldfrapp will perform tracks from her top ten album Tales of Us at The Lowry, Salford on Thursday, 27 March 2014, returning to the venue for the first time since the launch of the Alison Goldfrapp, Performer as Curator exhibition in October. Tickets are now on sale here.

The date, featuring Goldfrapp and her full band, extends the singer-songwriter’s relationship with the Salford arts venue after being the first to present an exhibition as the first Performer as Curator. A series of annual exhibitions designed to explore a renowned stage artists creative influences, Goldfrapp brought together work from around the world to offer a fascinating journey into a world of fantasy, fairy tales and folklore.

Open through the festive period and until Sunday 2 March 2014, the exhibition is free to visitors and features the work of 23 artists, photographers, illustrators and filmmakers drawn from public and private collections around the world. Each work selected not only illustrates Goldfrapp’s theatrical personal tastes, but also the relationships between the works and the themes of storytelling, performance and art history.

A spokesperson for The Lowry said: “Alison’s exhibition has been extremely popular and received deserved acclaim from critics for its clear vision and entertainment factor. Welcoming her back for a full live show is very exciting and we’re expecting great demand for tickets.”

As art director for all aspects of her band’s imagery, including videos, Goldfrapp was a natural choice for The Lowry when it came to the opening exhibition in the series. It was announced in October that the next Performer as Curator will be the renowned choreographer, Akram Khan, presenting his exhibition in autumn 2014.
