East of Heysham at 3 min Theatre

Already picking up press is Lass Productions latest play EAST OF HEYSHAM. Written by Lancaster writer PHILIP MARTIN, East of Heysham chronicles a fateful night in the company of Morecambe's enthusiastic, but dwindling James Dean Memorial Society.

What is new recruit Sarah really hiding when she turns up out of the blue? Does everything haveits t ime and die, or are the best of us as eternally young and immortal as James Dean himself? This new mystery thriller is as razor sharp as Dean's temperament and features some of Manchester's finest fringe talent.

Producer GARETH KAVANAGH comments: "James Dean arguably invents the modern teenager with Rebel Without a Cause and it is the subsequent cult of youth and the yearning to stay forever young that Philip brilliantly explores in this amazing unproduced script.

Philip’s work in Gangsters and Doctor Who did so much to shape my own tastes as a teenager and we're delighted to be working with him on a sure fire hit for the summer."

Directing is MICHAEL WHITTAKER, currently playing Joy Division's Ian Curtis in one of the breakout shows from Manchester’s fringe scene in recent years, 'New Dawn Fades'.

East of Heysham will be performed at Manchester's Three Minute Theatre from 17-19 June and Salford Arts Theatre 24-25 June, with other venues to be announced.
