Denise Black at MCR42
MCR42 continue their run of events featuring live artists with the return Home for one of Manchester's Finest performers.
Star of Manchester's iconic QUEER AS FOLK, Denise Black, returns to The Gay Village for one night only for an evening of music and gossip on 29 November.
Enjoy an evening of banter, chat and stories to make you smile, interspersed with music that has been described as reminiscent of Kirsty MacColl's more earthy numbers.
One of the UK's most respected Acting Coaches, former BBC/C4/MTV presenter and MCR 42 DJ, Anthony Crank, is in conversation with Denise, who he describes as "A true Canal street legend: I mean, it's the genius that is Russell T Davies' 'Hazel' for crying out loud!".
Denise's acting career includes CORONATION STREET and EMMERDALE as well as Russell T Davies QUEER AS FOLK and CUCUMBER. She has also performed at the Royal Exchange Theatre, amongst others.
And she has some stories to tell: "(At the audition) I read the brief Hazel scene in my best Manc accent and it sounded awful. When I finally ground to a halt there was silence. I mean a really tense and ever so long silence. Nobody moved. They all just blinked at me blankly. Finally in desperation I felt obliged to speak. 'Please say something even if it's only 'do it better' I begged. Finally Charles the director deigned to speak. 'Do it better' was all he said."
This is an evening not to be missed.
Join Denise and Anthony at MCR 42 in The Village on Sunday 29 November from 5pm.
