Danny Beard surprises guests at Airport

Award-winning drag act and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Danny Beard serenaded holiday makers at Manchester Airport as they started their travels on Monday 18 July.

In celebration of Thomas Cook Airlines’ sponsorship of Manchester Pride’s The Big Weekend, the festival organisers have teamed up with the airline to offer travellers a once in a lifetime performance at check in ahead of the scheduled Boston and New York flights.

Known for his cheeky Scouse charm, his distinct style of DJ'ing and his unique look, Danny Beard pushes the boundaries of drag.

Originally from Liverpool, Danny moved to Manchester where he became the face of long-running LGBT student club night Poptastic in 2013, and a regular feature in the gay scene, working in many venues around the UK.

Plus Danny hit headlines with his jaw-dropping performances of Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Holding Out For A Hero’  and ‘Sweet Transvestite from the Rocky Horror Picture Show’ on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.  His performance received high praise from judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

Danny will be performing at The Big Weekend in Manchester over August Bank Holiday.

Thomas Cook Airlines and Manchester Airport are official sponsors of Manchester Pride’s The Big Weekend which takes place from Friday 28 to Monday 31 August. They are also official sponsors of the Thomas Cook Airlines USA Main Arena. Tens of thousands of people from across the UK and Europe flock to Manchester’s world-renowned Gay Village for the event and to watch the parade.

Thomas Cook Airlines is Manchester Airport’s biggest long-haul carrier, with new services direct from Manchester, to Los Angeles and Boston starting in May. This is in addition to increasing to six flights a week to New York. Thomas Cook Airlines services its new US destinations with a fleet of seven long-haul aircraft with completely refurbished and upgraded cabins, James Martin meals, Premium class cabin and wider, comfier seats, seat-back inflight entertainment.

Manchester Airport is home to over 70 airlines, serving 210 plus destinations and has over 23 million passengers a year.

The Manchester Pride Festival is an award-winning four-day event celebrating LGBT life. The event takes place in August, with The Big Weekend running from Friday 26 to Monday 29 August and the Parade on Saturday 27 August.

The Big Weekend tickets are on sale now, priced at £25 for weekend tickets. Day, family and children’s tickets are also available. Tickets are exchanged for Pledge Bands at the festival providing guests with access to the event, including the Main Arena, Sackville Gardens, the Gaydio Dance Arena and the Expo and help Manchester Pride raise essential funds for LGBT and HIV causes in Greater Manchester.  For more information on The Big Weekend visit the new website at bigweekend.manchesterpride.com.

Manchester Pride asks the community to wear their bands with pride as they pledge to; help Manchester Pride create a safe, world class LGBT celebration, support Manchester Pride’s commitment to raising essential funds for LGBT and HIV causes in Greater Manchester and support the organisation’s campaign for greater LGBT equality.
