Cup Final for VMFC

Cup Final for VMFC

Village Manchester, one of the country’s leading gay and inclusive football teams, is competing in the GFSN Cup final at St George’s Park - the English Football Association's national football centre - later this month.

The club will take on London Romans on Saturday 31 May in the GFSN Cup final at the national FA’s state of the art training complex in Burton-Upon-Trent in the final match of the gay version of the FA Cup.

Village Manchester, who beat teams from Brighton, Newcastle, Leicester and Edinburgh to reach the final, will be aiming to win the trophy for the second time in their 18 year history.

Team captain Rob McPherson said “As you can imagine, the club is very excited about the cup final and the players are itching to get out onto the excellent playing surface that will await us at St George’s Park. Players such as Steven Gerrard, Joe Hart and Jack Wilshere have graced the facilities there and it will be great to follow in their footsteps.

“We are taking a coach load of players and fans down for the final and I am sure they will be making a lot of noise to roar us on to victory.”

The game will kick off at 4.30pm on the elite indoor 3G pitch.

The GFSN (Gay Football Supporters’ Network) Cup involves 20 gay men’s teams from England, Scotland and Wales.
