Corrie live returns

MIDWINTER Lassfest is back and for 31 days in January and February 2013 the Lass O’Gowrie (National Supreme Champion Pub of Britain at the Morning Advertiser Awards 2012) will be hosting an amazing array of unique events and drama premieres.

Yer Maun Productions open Lassfest 2013 on Wednesday 2 January with HARVEY, the classic tale of a man doubting his own sanity. Elwood P. Dowd is a mild-mannered, pleasant man, who just happens to have an invisible friend resembling a six-foot rabbit.

CORONATION STREET 1977 LIVE (January 3, 4, 6 and 7) features two live Coronation Street episodes celebrating writer John Stevenson, one of Coronation Street’s most prolific and loved writers.

John penned an incredible 399 episodes of Coronation Street between 1976 and 2006 and is widely considered one of the greats of the programme.

The two episodes featured centre on the original Rovers Return landlady Annie Walker taking delivery of a very special monogrammed carpet for her parlour, but is all as it seems?

The episodes will include ionic characters such as Bet Lynch, Fred Gee, Betty Turpin, Eddie Yates, Hilda and Stan Ogden (reprised by Joan Kemspon and John Draycott), Rita Fairclough, Len Fairclough, Alf Roberts and Elsie Tanner.

Legendary casting director June West, the casting director for more than 15 years on Coronation Street, is again using her inside knowledge to sign up a stella cast for the Lass O’Gowrie’s live episodes.

Directed by David MacCreedy (who previously directed Hot Fat at the Lass). Coronation Street 1977 LIVE! is sponsored by Thwaites.

Landlord Gareth Kavanagh said: “We are hugely greateful to ITV for allowing us to stage these episodes and can’t wait for you to see them!
