Clean Bandit announced for Manchester Pride

CLEAN BANDIT ADDED TO THE BIG WEEKEND LINE-UP

The group which broke the record for the longest run at number 1 for a British act in 2016 is to take to the Thomas Cook Airlines USA Stage at The Big Weekend this August bank holiday in a show presented by G-A-Y.

Single Rockabye featuring Anne-Marie and Sean Paul was by many considered to be the song of the year plus the act has worked with Louisa Johnson who will also perform at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) festival this year and multi award winner  Jess Glynne.

“Tears” featuring X Factor 2015 winner, Louisa Johnson stormed the global Spotify charts and playlists alike, the track has received over 75 million streams to date, climbed to #1 on UK radio airplay having been playlisted across the board at UK radio (Radio 1/Capital/1Xtra/Kiss/Kiss Fresh), and remains in the Top 5 biggest-selling UK singles of 2016! Upon release, “Tears” shot to #1 on Shazam’s ‘Future Hits’ chart and their self-produced official video has now accumulated over 80 MILLION YouTube views.

Their debut album New Eyes which was release in 2014 has sold over 14 million singles and 1.6 million albums worldwide, won a Grammy for ‘Best Dance Recording’ with “Rather Be” feat. Jess Glynne, has been nominated for 2 x BRIT/Billboard Music Awards and 1 x BBC Music Award.

"We’re thrilled to have worked with G-A-Y in bagging a UK Pride exclusive performance from Clean Bandit. It’s brilliant to have such a relevant and current group displaying their support for LGBT people around the world. Their live performances are stunning and I’m sure their appearance at The Big Weekend will be remembered for years to come.”

Clean Bandit will join a raft of artists already announced including Melanie C, X Factor winner Louisa Johnson and Sara Aalto. The event organisers have also announce the full line-up for the Gaydio Dance Arena which will include Faithless, Simian Mobile Disco, Danny Howard, Ben Pearce and Shaun J Wright (Hercules And The Love Affair).

The Big Weekend tickets are currently priced at £22.50 for a weekend ticket, £16.50 for day tickets and children's tickets are also available. Tickets provide guests with access to the event site, including the Thomas Cook Airlines USA Stage, Sackville Gardens, the Gaydio Dance Arena and the Expo and help Manchester Pride raise money for LGBT and HIV charities and organisations in Greater Manchester.  For more information on The Big Weekend visit the new website at bigweekend.manchesterpride.com.
