Canal-st.co.uk and the GDPR

By now you won’t have missed the mountain of emails asking for your permission to continue contacting you using your email address, or possibly by an App on your mobile device.

The regulations are fairly extensive and, to be honest, pretty difficult to fathom for small business. However, here we are going to tell you how we use your data and what we will be asking you to do shortly.

We are keen to retain our readers and continue to provide them great information about Manchester’s LGBT lifestyle, event reviews and lots of great competitions to win, all for FREE!

Subscribers to our weekly Canal-St newsletter will receive an email asking them to re-opt into our list. We only keep your email address and nothing more.

Your email address is not shared with any third party businesses or organisations; however, we may occasionally send you an additional email promoting something extra special (actually that’s only once in the last 6 years...).

And that’s it!

The Canal-St VIP Card

If you have one of our VIP Cards, either electronic or plastic version,  then we do retain a little bit more information about you. This includes your name, address, email address and in the case of the electronic version a unique identifying number of the mobile device it is stored on (that piece of data is kept by every single app on your phone).

The electronic VIP card is part of the Android and Apple Pay systems and the card is regulated by Google and Apple respectively.

We do keep a record of your email address, so that we can keep card holders up to date, via a weekly email, of new and changing deals and any changes to the card on your device.

Again, your email address is not shared with any third party businesses or organisations. We believe our privacy policy is already compliant with the new GDPR regulations.

Thanks for reading - Canal-St Manchester Team
