Barclays for IDAHO

International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO)
 
Major global financial services provider Barclays, have announced their support of The Lesbian & Gay Foundation's 'Fly the Flag' initiative as part of IDAHO on 17th May 2013.
 
International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) is marked every year around the world since 2005 and calls for respect for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) people worldwide. It marks the date that homosexuality was removed from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organisation on May 17th 1992.

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation's 'Fly the Flag' initiative encourages the community, businesses and organisations to 'Fly the Flag' to show their support for LGB people in a visible way.
 
Darren Knight, Head of Policy & Engagement at The Lesbian & Gay Foundation comments "The Lesbian & Gay Foundation's Flying the Flag initiative is a fantastic way for people to raise awareness of the impact that homophobia, biphobia and transphobia continues to have on lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) communities. We have seen people worldwide take part, even in countries such as Iran, where homosexuality is illegal".
 
Barclays will be supporting The LGF’s initiative in a number of ways including a message on ATM machines across the country from 15 – 17th May as well as a poster in all 1,700 branches across the UK from 10 – 17th May.
