Angels if you need them

Angels if you need them

We’re here if you need us!

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation works to support lesbian, gay and bisexual people and we’re based in the heart of the Village.  We help people change their lives; just this week, one of the team took a call from a 12 year old who was looking for help and support and told us that the information that they got from us changed his life.

It’s fantastic that we get mentioned in so many arenas as an organisation, but it is disappointing to read factually incorrect information on social networking sites and in other places about our organisation and the work that our dedicated volunteer and staff team do.

For instance, our Village Angels team aren’t paid, they’re a team of volunteers with a shift leader per team, out in the Village to the small hours of the morning every weekend and often later than 3am on Saturdays.

They help people in crisis, those in need and keep people safe, working with the Police, the Ambulance service and other partners.

Working with Manchester Pride is important to the LGF as we want the event to be a success and we want small LGB&T groups to be able to access the Community fund that is a lifeline to many.  Of course we’d like to see the amount increased to ensure that more community activities can take place and we will support Pride in their work to do this.

Our priority are the 40,000 lesbian, gay and bisexual people who use our services every year and to make sure that they have the support and information that they need.

If you need any support, even on Christmas Day, our helpline is open from 10am – 10pm every day over the festive period.
