Echoes of Love Across Time: 'In the Time of Dragons' at Edge Theatre

"The Time Dragon" is a touching play that is now playing at the Edge Theatre in Chorlton, and it is beautifully directed by Janine Waters. It tells a wonderful and unusual love tale that spans from the bright 1960s to the present. Imagine a fantastic novel in which two main protagonists from different eras inhabit the same place thanks to totally unexpected plot developments.

Rupert Hill and Megan Keaveny are excellent main performers. Rupert plays a music teacher negotiating the present difficulties of love and sadness while Megan takes on the role of a 1960s performer, courageously claiming her space and the freedom to love freely, rejecting conventional standards. Their journeys happens within a single room, creating a very poignant story of connection and courage.

Tom Guest and Hannah Nuttall play pivotal parts in the tale, with Hannah's character sparking curiosity for deeper exploration. Musical director Simon Waters methodically crafts the play's atmosphere, while Kay Haynes' unique lighting design weaves between several eras and emotions, giving a layer of magic to the experience.

The script and directing take the viewer on an interesting journey through love, identity, and self-discovery. While touching on important issues, the soft approach to more complex matters is appealing.

Tickets are available on the Edge Theatre's website.
