Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing

Romantic.. Sexy.. Funny.. Brilliant

The  all-time favourite Dirty Dancing production took to the stage this week at The Palace Theatre and let us tell you it is really not to be missed!!  We must admit before we watched the show we had some reservations with a stage production living up to the original perfection of the film.. Would Johnny Castle be as charismatic? …. Would Baby be as cute?... How on earth would they do ‘THE plank’ scene and ‘THE water lift’ scenes ??

But we were not disappointed.

The casting was fantastic down to the mannerisms of Baby that Emily Holt had ‘down to a T’ and the hip movements of Paul-Michael Jones that brought back fond memories of Johnny ;-)  The set was ingenious with huge plasma screens simulating the water scenes so well that Baby and Johnny actually looked like they were frolicking around in the lake and really did justice to the epic water lift! The dancing – as you would expect was out of this world, Charlotte Gooch worked the stage with pure class and an energy that made us all jealous.

With the Orchestra seated above the stage on a platform the audience all had a constant view of them during the production.  Highly talented and performed all the classics!

This production is the kind you could watch over and over again and you would still be smiling and singing along!

The show runs until 7th January 2012
