Cinderella Reimagined: A Dazzling Blend of Classic Panto and Modern Flair at Contact Theatre

Recently, I had the chance to experience "Cinderella" at Contact Theatre, and it's safe to say it was an evening or afternoon well spent. The show, a beautiful blend of traditional pantomime and contemporary twists, was a feast for the senses.

Lady Bushra and Misty Chance, as the Ugly Sisters, were simply outstanding. Their performance was a masterclass in pantomime, full of wit, humour, and an undeniable charm that had everyone in stitches. Jordan Skelly, portraying Lord Chamberlain, brought his character to life with such energy and hilarity that it was hard not to be completely taken in.

The simplicity of the set was its strength, creating an intimate and engaging space. The costumes were a visual treat, vibrant and imaginative, elevating the overall aesthetic of the production. The music, courtesy of an in-house band, added a modern flair to the timeless story, making it resonate with the audience of today.

What really added a special touch were the children in the dance troop. Their performances were not just cute, but they brought a genuine sense of joy and playfulness to the stage.

The direction of the show was impeccable. It flowed smoothly, striking a perfect balance between fast-paced action and moments of heartfelt emotion. While the show might be a bit complex for the youngest in the audience, it's a perfect outing for adults, blending traditional pantomime elements with humour that's just right for a more mature crowd.

This rendition of "Cinderella" is more than just a show; it's a celebration of laughter, creativity, and the magic of pantomime. It's the kind of night out that's perfect for both friends and family, filled with moments that will have you laughing and maybe even a bit teary-eyed.
