Howard Jones

A black stage, bare apart from laptop and keyboard, provided the perfect canvas for this great evening of music and tales from Howard Jones. A classically trained pianist and former student of the RNCM, Howard’s solo show is an intimate trip through his 30 year music career, where he shares behind-the-scenes stories and reveals the inspiration behind the songs in these rare acoustic shows.

Taking is from his hits of the 80s (New Song, What is Love) up to the present day, Howard kept his audience entertained for a full two hours. We laughed at his tales of exploits and were mesmerised by his musical talent. Hero in Your Eyes – an emotional piece penned for Gary Barlow and the upcoming Eddie the Eagle biopic – and his version of Brian Wilson’s God Only Knows were personal favourites.

Howard was supported by Elise Yuill, a Devon-based singer-songwriter who is fast becoming a recognised name within the world of contemporary folk music. Accompanied by her acoustic guitar she performed 5 songs from her upcoming crowdfunded album. A haunting voice and talented, observant songwriter.
