Gabrielle at The Milton Club
For over 25 years GABRIELLE has entertained us with dozens of hits and millions of record sales.Last night at Manchester's Milton Club, she graced us with a rare live preformance.
A packed crowd patiently waited for her arrival on stage at just after 12 midnight.
Billed as an acoustic set,she and her small, but talented band, gave us a few of her better known hits.
This gig was part of the clubs 'Soul Purpose'series and is perfectly named.Everyone, including the occupiers of the side booths had a good view of her performance and the great acoustic of the venue also meant that we were all able to hear her perfectly.
My personal favourite 'sunshine'bought back some great memories of the summer of 1999.'Out of reach' and the now classic 'Dreams' also touched the crowd for all the right reasons.
The crowd was a subtle mix of gender, race and orientation and whilst mainly over 30's(club policy is over 21 )this crowd mixed easily and the overall feel was comfortable and great fun.
Musically,on either side of Gabrielle's performance,we were treated to some great rnb classics from the 80's/90's.We were all, dancing in the aisles..Literally.
The venue is stunning aesthetically and the bar teams friendly and helpful.
A large glass of Rose at £6.50 didnt break the bank either.
All and all, this first visit to The Milton Club, was an extremely pleasurable one and will certainly be returning..
